I feel no other than DXO can compete on quality with C1. At this time DeepPRIME with RAF files fails more often that it succeeds on my very old workstation PC.Ģ- Love the competition. I would not have updated DXO if C1 had a denoiser as great as DeepPrime. The total cost was around $155 cdn (100 euros), while it cost me $300 cdnt a few months ago to upgrade to C1 21-22. I already had a complete license on all their products so for me it was only an upgrade money wise and at half price. With RAF they are not there yet, but it takes a lot of money in research and development to achieve it. DXO don't accept not to be the best at capturing data and lens corrections for any cameras & lenses. I did that for 2 reasons.ġ- DXO decided after years C1 & its competitors to support the RAF files. I took the bait yesterday and updated to the DXO Photoback 5 + Nikk 4 + Filnpak 6. But the again, you also have the FP option, it's pretty good.Īll the other plugins from Nik (sharpeners, define etc) are being outperformed by the current, up-to-date software offerings Short answer to the question "is Nik v4 worth the expense?": If you already have the DXO suite: not really, if you don't have it and you're very into B&W grainy sims: yes. So for those who don't buy into the full DXO suite, Nik V4 alone might be tempting just for that, and you get advanced keystoning as a bonus It must be said that DXO's grain layers are superb. Nik V4 has additional presets for Vivezaīasically, if you have the DXO suite, you can avoid to spend 75€ by just using Nik V2, export without the grain and add grain as the last step before final export in either FP6 or PL5 Nik V4 has Perspective Pro which is the same as ViewPoint (but that is an additional 40€ (Black Friday price!) just to get keystoning, be it an advanced algoritm Nik V4 has FP6 grain layers added in SilverEfex The whole thing is really expensive, even at 50% discount! PL5 has "U-point technology" for their own local adjustments but Nik V4 is an additional 75€ (Black Friday price!).
